Our Learn to Row courses are perfect for complete beginners who wish to start the sport and learn the basics and for those that want to join the squads that train throughout the year.
Those who have already rowed elsewhere may join the squads at any time.

*Note that acceptance to our Learn to Row courses does not guarantee acceptance as an ongoing member of the club. If the number of pupils graduating from our courses wanting to continue is higher than we can accept then we will select from the most suitable pupils as demonstrated in the courses*.

Please note that we expect all those interested in joining the club to have some level of swimming ability and confidence in the water. Pupils should be able to swim for 50 metres in light clothing to undertake this course and by booking onto it confirm that this is the case. Pupils also need to acknowledge this is a physical activity and the ability to partake in the sport requires a level of competence as per cycling/canoeing/rugby etc,. Underlying health issues should be relayed to us in advance using the email below.

Coaches: The group are coached by our dedicated professional coaching team.

The boat: We use a mixture of quad and octuple scull boats, using two blades (oars) for each rower. This type of rowing is safe and stable and is the perfect way to introduce rowers to crew rowing.

How to book your place: Use the links above.

Experienced rowers who have already undertaken a terms rowing can go straight into our existing squads – please contact us below to enquire.

Pupils should dress in close fitting attire (due to moving parts in boats) including a waterproof top (also as close fitting as possible), underneath baselayer and leggings. They should not come in hoodies, baggy tracksuits or anything similar. They also need to come with their own wellies (for wading into the water) and a small bottle of water.

In September/October each year there will also be a Capsize Drill & Swim Test (at Hampton Pool) that new members must complete – so also keep that afternoon/time free (details will be sent separately to attendees nearer the time).
